Ot #113327

Messages like this usually get a faster response if they are posted at http://forums.wcha.org/forumdisplay.php?f=3 in the serial number search forum. I am sorry about the delay in answering this one.

The Old Town canoe with serial number 113327 is an 18 foot long, CS grade, HW (Heavy Water) model with Western red cedar planking, open spruce gunwales, oak decks, oak trim, a keel and sponsons. It was built between December, 1933 and May, 1935. The original exterior paint color was dark green. It shipped on June 5th, 1935 to Derry, New Hampshire. The back side of this card shows that it was returned for repairs on September 21st, 1978 from Wilderrness Outfitters in Milford, New Hamshire. New paint and varnish was applied then it was picked up on November 8th, 1978. Scans of both sides of this build record can be found by following the link at the attached thumbnail images below.

These scans were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others as you probably know well. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or contribute to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/join.html to join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.

Benson
