Old Town build record project extended

The Old Town build record project has been extended with some help from the Old Town Canoe Company and the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association. This effort picked up where the previous project ended at serial number 211,000 and now extends to 253,998. The records have also been scanned for two more of Old Town's other sequences including flat bottom boats (serial numbers 1- 9733) and skiffs (serial numbers 01-05525).

A significant portion of this information was typed so it has also been converted from the tagged image format (TIF) files to Adobe's portable document format (PDF) which were then run through an optical character recognition (OCR) process that has made them searchable. This was very helpful when looking for the Deliverance canoes as described at http://forums.wcha.org/showthread.php?12713 for example.

The results of the original build record project are available from http://store.wcha.org/Old-Town-Build-Records-on-CD-ROM.html and these will soon be updated to include this additional information. The update can be made available as a free download for anyone who has already purchased a set of these records. The complete update is several gigabytes so it will take quite a while time to transfer. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks,

Benson
