Northern Lakes Chapter Event - Sunday June 24

LOVES Wooden Canoes
Canada’s National Canoe day is officially June 26, and this year many organizations are celebrating it on Sunday June 24th. The Canadian Canoe Museum has a celebration planned where you can paddle to and ride the lift locks. If you are not able to be in Peterborough on June 24th those who are attending this year’s Assembly in Peterborough will have another opportunity to ride the locks. Another great celebration being planned is in Gravenhurst. I’ve attached a copy of the poster, including the itinerary, for a National Canoe Day celebration by paddling around the historic Gravenhurst Bay. The event runs from 8 am to noon. Please note there is an admission charge for the Discovery Centre http://realmuskoka.com/discovery-centre/

This would be a good venue for our Northern Lakes chapter members in the area. I will be there to set up an information table regarding the WCHA and promoting the Assembly. As a chapter if enough people are interested we could continue the day with an afternoon paddle and/or possibly lunch at a local restaurant/pub. If you are interested in participating or getting together please let me know.

It’s not long until the Assembly in Peterborough. If you haven’t already registered you can access registration information and a schedule of events here: http://www.wcha.org/annual-assembly

I’m looking forward to meeting some of you at the Gravenhurst Canoe Day celebration!

Alex
