Poking around for information about a Luther Gulick Camps photograph I just acquired, I came across this video. Plenty of war canoe action, amongst other scenes from a girls' camp in Maine, 1919.
Dr. Gulick also is remembered for this instruction:
"He designed a triangle logo -- Spirit, Mind, & Body -- representing the YMCA philosophy. This evolved into the block letter "Y" used in the modern YMCA logo, as well as the Springfield College seal.[4]
The Luther Gulick Camps were frequently featured by Old Town Canoe starting in the 1930 catalog and other materials as shown below. Summer camps were a significant market for all manufacturers.
