Fishing Guide
Looking for information on a boat with the serial number of 149804. Not sure of maker, but I think it may be an Old Town. It is approximately 17' . It is wood canvas and has had some restoration.

The Old Town with serial number 149804 is a 16 foot long, CS (Common Sense or middle) grade, square stern model with red western cedar planking, open spruce gunwales, ash decks, spruce thwarts, spruce seats, a keel, outside stems, and a floor rack. It was built between October, 1947 and April, 1948. The exterior paint color was dark green with a G.S. (Guide's Special or lighter) green bottom. It shipped on May 4th, 1948 to Center Lovell, Maine. A scan showing this build record can be found below.

This scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others as you probably know well. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will donate, join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See https://www.woodencanoe.org/about to learn more about the WCHA and https://www.woodencanoe.org/shop to donate or join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer this description doesn't match. Feel free to reply if you have any other questions. Good luck with the restoration,

Benson
