Majestic 1965 Old Town Molitor 17 ft with Sailing Kit
$4900
Wakefield, Rhode Island
A 1965 Old Town Molitor canoe in remarkable original condition and has not required restoration.
I am the second owner and bought it in 1970. This rare canoe was stored inside for over 50 years and used less than a dozen times since it was purchased.
Long decks and mahogany gunwales create a frame so strong that no thwarts are needed on the beautiful Molitor. This hand-crafted canoe is one of a kind and something you will want to display as artwork or use lovingly.
* The Molitor was Old Town’s top wood/canvas model and is sold today with a custom build for $9,000. This Molitor has the Style 45 up-grade package.
* Style 45 has custom paint, oval mahogany gunwales, and mahogany rub rails
* Other woods used are ash and red and white cedar
* Included are cedar paddles, cedar seat backs
* The full sailing package includes:
* Nylon sail
* Cedar mast
* Mahogany rudder
* Mahogany lee boards
* Ash lee board clamp on mount
Condition: Excellent Original
16' Old Town Molitor, 1966
It is mostly restored (has been recanvased and painted). It just needs outer rails, keel, cutwaters and bang plates.
It is painted a brick red (Epifanes paint), and has one small crack in a plank.
One photo shows an interior close up of a plank that may need a small repair.
Another photo shows a bulge in the canvas in that same spot, but the canvas is perfectly intact.
One photo shows the steam bent cutwaters that need to be installed on the stems.
The canoe is located in Tamworth, NH.
Asking $2200.
Unbelievable barn find. 1968 Old Town Molitor Sailing Canoe model. Bought from the grandson of the original owner. Stored last 30 years! Canoe is completely original! Canoe has usual light scratches and scratch touch ups but I feel doesn't hurt the fact that this canoe is factory original! Absolutely no wear on the inside of the boat from footwear. The sailing rig has NEVER been used! Rudder control lines were still coiled up from the factory!! I have seen and restored wood and canvas canoes for 40 years and you do not run into something like this very often. $4000, priced to move! I'm in Holland Michigan.
