• Pictures of an 18 foot long Guide model from 1941 that were submitted on 8/27/2022

  1941 18' Old Town AA grade Guide with floorboards.
  All original interior with no apparent broken ribs. Only damage I could see is formed aluminum plates made to cover minor cracks in planking. Totally unneeded repair in my opinion! I took them off and screw holes were left on the ribs but that would not stop me from buying it I've seen 1000s of canoes. Originally ordered with no 4 Old Town paint job. I guess is someone repainted over the white canoe with blue, then painted over the original detail work. Canvas seems to be in great original shape.

  This 18' Old Town Guide canoe is constructed in the premium AA grade (mahogany gunwales). Has optional half-ribs. The canoe was professionally restored by Wooden Canoe Heritage Association President Michael Grace in Melbourne, FL in 2000-2002. It has been stored indoors since and was only floated by Dr. Grace for some post-restoration pre-delivery pictures. It is still in as-restored condition. His and hers Old Town logo paddles, new condition, included. The canoe was a gift to my father from his mother in 1941 - a college graduation present. He gave it to me in turn in 1999. Now it is time for me to down-size and I reluctantly must let it go.
  Condition is excellent - restored.

  Here is a great example of an Old Town Guide canoe and a large one at that! This canoe is 20' long and will accommodate all your gear and then some. This canoe was built in 1945 and sports 1/2 ribs, mahogany outwales, and never had a keel. The original sponsons are long gone. With the exception of needing new canvas, paint, and varnish, it is in great shape.

  Restored in 2018 with new varnish, paint. Original seats, decals. Needs new paint. Painted with Kirby Paint in 2018 but now peeling. Inside planking and ribs are nicely patinaed. One family ownership.

  7. Description 1963 Old Town 16ft Guide Canoe SN: 173317 16 Absolutely beautiful and very solid (no structural repairs) canoe with restoration completed 8/22 but not yet in the water. Restoration included removing and replacing canvas, sanding and 5 coats of UV varnish (TotalBoat Gleam 2.0) on inner hull and trim and, as specified in the build sheet, dark green paint - 4 coats of Kirby marine enamel on the exterior. Also, re-caned seats - pressed cane.

  7. 1978 Old Town 18' Guide model fiberglass on wood canoe. Stored in garage for most of its life. I am the original owner. The canoe has one broken rib and 2 broken planks. Other than than it is all original and with a little sanding and varnish it will look brand new.

  I had an Old Town Guide 18' wood canvas built for me back in 2002 (I think...)
  I now summer in Lewistown, MT but have hauled this 'old girl' about far enough (above pictures).
  Of course "worth" is negotiable but not critical.
