white lead filler

I had forgotten how good the white lead based filler was until last week. A canoe that the owner was going to paint and varnish after I had stripped the interior, re-canvassed, and filled about 20 years ago was brought back to the shop . I am now painting and varnished the canoe. After only 2 coats of sanding and painting, the exterior really looks finished. It will likely get 2 more rounds of wet sanding and painting, but I had forgotten how nice is was to work with the lead based filler-I guess the filler caused my memory loss.
