Warman Canoe Buddy System

LOVES Wooden Canoes
I just could not resist acquiring this canoe related contraption from an online flea-market. Never seen the likes of it before. The Warman Canoe Buddy System is designed to raft two canoes together. It’s made of a dense plastic resin. The ends are marked with an outline of the state of Maine and has the following text :

WARMAN

Canoe Buddy System, Inc

P.O. Box 98 Fort Kent Mill, Maine 04744

800-8416654

PAT PEND

The only information I could find was from a Maine business registry that says the company was incorporated in 1991. I was told by the seller that the tip of the paddle is inserted in the groove on top to have better leverage to close the Canoe Buddy.

Anybody ever used this?

The raft-up for the group photo after the paddle-by at Assembly would be an excellent opportunity to test this gizmo.

As someone who has tied the gunwales of 2 and 3 canoes together in order to make progress across a windy lake, I can see a use for this thing, but how much does it weigh? I can't see toting it across many portages (or carries for you New Englanders). Tom McCloud
