Surprise under my canoe deck

This is a common place for bees to hide.. I wonder if the "BEE LADY IN MAINE HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH THIS SITUATION?
Seems like every time I jump into my canoe and paddle I see more "NO TRESPASSING SIGNS. Just saying
 
That looks a lot like a hornet nest, and you don't want to tangle with those folks. It could possibly be a paper wasp nest, and they are somewhat less aggressive, which is of little concern as you are light-footing it to safety.
 
Bee/Hornet nest is better then the birds nest I found under a deck several years ago. With 7 unfeatherd babies in it.
new deck and gunnel ends had to be installed as the wood rotted from a couple of nestlings and all the juice associated with that.
