Request build record for Kennebec "Junior" 12 ft. Serial No. 19874 12

The Kennebec canoe with serial number 19874 as shown on pages 100, 90 and 91 of volumes three and four in the Kennebec ledgers. This was assigned to a 12 foot long Kennebec Junior model type A. It was planked by Cameron on August 25th, 1928. The canvas covering and the first filler coat columns were not filled in. The second filler coat was applied by Saucier on October 2nd, 1928. It was railed by Thompson on November 2nd, 1928. The "F 22" (Function number 22 or the keel?) was completed by J. Thib. on the same day. The "F 24", "F 25", "F 28", and "F 35" (Function numbers 24 to 35 or the finish work) were completed by J. Thib. on April 24th, 1929 and May 1st, 1929 along with L. Thib. on May 29th, 1929. The original color was red. It was packed by Hendabec (?) and shipped to location "29-467" on May 29th, 1929. This location is probably an order number but we don't currently have enough information to identify it.

The scans of these build records can be found by following the links at the attached thumbnail images below. These original Kennebec records are reproduced through the courtesy of the Maine State Museum.

The microfilms and scans of these records were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) as you probably know well. A description of the project to preserve records like these is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/about-wcha to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/store/membership to join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match the canoe. This canoe looks like a good one from the pictures that I have seen. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
