Replacing factory caneing with hand caneing

Here is an alternative to digging out old spline to recane a seat.

1. Smooth the top of the old spline to the level of the seat frame with a sharp bladed tool of your choice.
2. Lay out the hole spacing for hand caneing.
3. Drill down to the depth of the spline groove. Pour in resin or tight bond to fill and secure the bottom of the spline and edge of old factory
caning.
4. After drying, drill though the seat frame, sand, stain, varnish and proceed to hand cane the seat.

Thank you for the idea Dick. I was considering using the seat frames upside down, but the angles on the frame ends would all be wrong.
