Removing fiberglass from paddle?

Otter Lake

I've got an Old Town beavertail that's covered with fiberglass. Don't know the resin type for certain, but suspect it's epoxy. Any thoughts on the best way to remove the glass cloth without damaging the paddle? Thanks.

In a location with good ventilation - preferably outside - use a heat gun to warm up the epoxy. It should soften and come off with a putty knife.

Don't overheat it and "tan" the wood, however.

You might want to round off the corners of the putty knife blade... it reduces the gouges, which reduces the swearing, etc.
