Life Legacy

KOHN, Ralph A. - Of Flint, age 70, died peacefully Sunday, March 2, 2014 at McLaren-Flint.

There will be a celebration of his life in early May. Date and times to be announced.

Ralph loved the outdoors, especially at his beloved cabin near Mio, MI. He built and paddled wood and canvas canoes, and even constructed an authentic birch bark canoe. He was a dedicated member of the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA). He was an inspired wood worker and caner and made beautiful furniture. He taught high school social studies and job development at Durand High School for many years before retiring in 2006. He held a Bachelor’s Degree from Ferris State and a Master’s Degree from Michigan State. He was a life-long resident of Flint, graduating in 1962 from Flint Central High School.

Surviving are the love of his life, Shery Pemberton of Flint;

son, Drake Kohn of CA;

daughter, Bree Kohn of Grand Blanc;

sisters, Barb Hostutler of Florida and Lorinda Tait of Lansing;

and his three brothers of other Mothers, Dick Walrath of Grayling, Joe McLearn of Flint and Mike Reed of Grand Blanc;

along with a host of close friends.

Contributions me be directed to WCHA, P.O. Box 117, Tamworth, NH 03886.
