Jean and I bought this canoe on Saturday. It was just too close to home to pass up. Serial number is 4267 1492. My knowledge of Canadian canoes is a bit under nourished so maybe someone can suggest a model. 16' long, 31" wide, 12" deep.
It's in decent shape, no broken ribs or planking, stems are good. It needs outwales and a new keel plus the usual varnish, canvas etc.

My guess is that you have a Peterborough Champlain model #1492 with serial number 4267. These were listed in their catalogs with this model number from 1943 to 1958. See http://www.wcha.org/store/canadian-wood-canoe-and-boat-company-catalog-collection for more details. There are no known serial number records for Peterborough so there isn't much more that anyone here can tell you. Sorry,

I have a same canoe, took me 10-12 years to find it.
I was looking for a Chestnut Pal but this is the same. (or so I believe)
It's fantastic paddling canoe. Mine is stamped 1492 2828
