Penn Yan Owacso OCS-105

Wooden Canoe Maniac
Who says I'm not an optimist. I figure if the wood is good enough to hold its shape I ought to give it a go. A project for next year. OCS dates from 1926 to 1955. #105 would date it to the '20s certainly.

Guess I'm always learning stuff. I hadn't known that Penn Yan used slotted screws at one time - all screws on this one are slotted oval head silicon-bronze instead of the Frearson Reed-Prince type. And I'd never seen one which used a thin strip of bent wood between the canvas & inner stem to taper the ends to 3/8" - it's nicer than sanding down the side planking to make the 3/8" size.
