Wooden Canoes are in the Blood
The current issue (January/February 2019) of Wooden Boat magazine has the usual "Wood Technology" by Richard Jagels. But he doesn't write about the usual dendrology and tensile strength. Rather, this column is about about paddle and oar efficiency as related to shape.

Hi Rob, Im contemplating making an Omar Stringer paddle out of black cherry. Have you any experience in making paddles? I have ordered the Omar Stringer Canoe Booklet. I understand there may be an outline pattern in there for his paddle.
Im going to be filling in my canvas with Robsons RT -10 as soon as it warms up. Do you have any experience with this filler? Im restoring my old Chestnut Pal 16 foot canoe, which I bought as a teenager in the mid 60s.
All the best, Gordon in Atikokan, Ontario
