Paddle, Axe or Paddleaxe?

Walter Hauck

LOVES Wooden Canoes
I found this tool at a flea market a couple of years ago. Since then I have looked through all my tool catalogs and historic tool books but have never found a reference to this.
I can only assume it is from an ancient fraternal order of canoe builders. So, let me "axe" you what I should do: should I sharpen it up and use it as a canoe-building tool, or would it ruin the historic integrity?

That looks like an answer to a question that was never asked. My weapon of choice is a bow saw:p
Come to Killbear and watch a live demonstration again this year, weekend after labour day - let the thread drift begin!

Then again, we could always auction it!
