This scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others as you probably know well. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/about-the-wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://store.wcha.org/WCHA-New-Membership.html to renew.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions. Good luck with the restoration,

Benson

Thanks for the reply, and thanks to Kayamedic for posting this for me as I couldn't get on yesterday due to problems at my end. That doesn't seem to be the boat in question. The last two numbers were 18 and the seller claims it's a Guide built in '43' with cherry outwhales. I am waiting for a reply from the current owner to see if he can take a closer look at the numbers.

Thanks, Alan

I'm sorry, I posted the wrong number previously but the correct build record below shows a nine foot dinghy. See if you can get some pictures of the numbers from each end. Thanks,

Benson

Yes, the 138K range is about right for a 1943 canoe but it is common for people to have canoes that are much older or newer than they think. Good luck,

Benson
