I just helped a friend buy this canoe and I am so jealous...
It's never been on the water.

The scanned records stop just over 250,000 from the early 1980s so no one here can provide the build record for this canoe. The chart at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/oldtown_chart.html indicates that this number is in the right range for a canoe from around 1986. There should be a hull identification number on the starboard stern. The information at http://www.boatsafe.com/nauticalknowhow/hin.htm will help you decode a date from this. I may be able to get a copy of this record the paper records on a future trip to the factory but that won't be for several weeks. Sorry,

Thank you.
I have contacted Old Town (Johnson) to see if they can supply the build sheet.
Will let you know what Jonathon has to say.

The metal serial number indicates 1985 (last two digits) which is what I had guessed.

Boat is in "off the showroom floor" condition.
The people who bought it will be displaying it, so it will remain pristine.

Will continue to paddle my 1934 50 lb.

This is funny, I bought an Old Town trapper, and they used the same photo. But no I didn’t buy this boat.
