Curious about Wooden Canoes
Over where I am working for my Practicum we have two canoes that have been recently fully restored. I was hoping to find some information about them. There serial numbers are 25 173637 and 173756 25. As I have been told by my boss there is another canoe that completes the series of three of them that were sent to the U.S. Olympic Committee in 1964. If you have any other information on these canoes or where the third one in this series is please let me know. Thank you for you time.

25' OT War Canoe

"Structure",

Serial number 173637 was shipped on October 14, 1964 to the U.S. Olympic Committee in New York. It was built as a 25' war canoe with outside stems, keel, floor rack and the original color was "fire red". The record for serial number 173756 was not found due to loss of or destruction of the build record. In my search however, there seems to have been a rash of 25' war canoes built that year. One, just 3 Sn's away from 173756 (173759) was shipped to Oakland, California. I will expand my search to see if any other canoes were shipped to the Olympic Committee and respond seperately. If you are not already a member of the WCHA, please consider joining to help support the considerable volunteer time and grants involved in providing this and many other services...along with great advise from the experts! Build record is attached.

Best of luck,

Ric Altfather

Got lucky...found 173756 and your third canoe! Records attached.

Ric
