Wooden Canoes are in the Blood
Gentlemen: A friend, who is not connected to the internet, has Old Town Canoe #174114. It is a 16 ft long CS grade, short Ash decks. He would like a copy of the build record when convenient. Thank you.

The Old Town canoe with serial number 174114 is a 16 foot long Otca model with a keel and narrow two and 3/4 inch planking. It was built between July and November, 1964. The original exterior paint color was probably similar to the image at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/designs/design37.gif and known as design number 37. It shipped on April 23rd, 1965 to Rochester, New York. The back side of the card indicates that another member of the WCHA inquired about this canoe on February 25th, 1985. Scans of both sides of this build record can be found by following the links at the attached thumbnail images below.

This scan was created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others as you probalby know well. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will renew your membership or encourage your friend to join to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/join.html to join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you or your friend have any other questions.
