Good morning,

Can anyone help me learn more about my Old Town Canoe, Serial Number 176370? It was purchased by my late father many years ago...

The build record for that number is either missing or improperly scanned so there isn't anything else that anyone here can tell you. Sorry,

Benson

I stopped by the factory this weekend and was able to find the original paper record for this canoe. The Old Town with serial number 176370 is a 16 foot long Guide model with a keel. It was built between June, 1966 and February, 1967. The original exterior color was G. S. (guide's special) green. It shipped on February 28th, 1967 to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. A scan of this build record can be found by following the link behind the thumbnail image attached below.

This scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will donate to, join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/about-wcha to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/store/membership to join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions. Better late than never?
