I’m looking for the build record for a 15’ Old Town. Serial number is 174499. Thanks!

The Old Town canoe with serial number 174499 is a 15 foot long fifty pound model with a keel and narrow two and 3/4 inch planking. It was built between January and February, 1965. The original exterior paint color was dark green. It shipped on June 16th, 1965 to Keene, New Hampshire. A scan showing this build record can be found below.

This build record scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others as you probably know well. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will donate, join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/about-wcha to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/store/membership to renew.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.

    Hi Rob,

Here’s a few. It’s not mine - belongs to a friend. Her father bought it back in 1965. Hoping I can restore it for her. Has a few broken ribs but is in decent shape overall.
