We'll meet at 1 PM in the Beaufort Lake Campground in/around Three Lakes, Michigan, for our FIRST paddle together. Three Lakes is on US41, about 45 minutes west of Marquette and just the other side of Michigamme.
This site was chosen partly because one of our members has a cabin on the lake, and also because it fits with a theme involving something that is a Big Deal in these parts--- the 1959 film "Anatomy of a Murder." This academy award winning film was shot in Marquette and its surrounds-- including a little restaurant called Mount Shasta which is near the location of Our First Paddle (excellent, honest food). And Our Big Bay Rendezvous on June 2-3 will occur in the park that is "the scene of the crime" in this movie, near a hotel that is also used in the film. So, if you plan to join us, you may want to rent "Anatomy of a Murder" on DVD (or read about it on the Internet Movie Database--IMDB).
