Interview with John McPhee

Wooden Canoes are in the Blood
In Memoriam
For folks that are snow bound or otherwise suffering from cabin fever, here is a great little interview with John McPhee. Near around 18 minutes or so he discusses the influence of canoeing when he was young on his life and his writing.

Curl up next to the fire and enjoy:

Thanks for posting this, Fitz. McPhee has been my favorite author for a lot of years. I've seen him lecture at Princeton a couple of times, and he is always fascinating. Anyone who can write a whole book on oranges and make it interesting is a pretty special author.

Fitz, any way to repost? Not the most tech advantaged but unable to access your original. Thanks either way

Hello Todd;

I Googled around and was not able to find it. I think it has been taken down. This is all I could find:

This program aired on April 22, 2010. The audio for this program is not available.

Thanks for the suggestion, Rollin.
I was a little take aback to learn that John McPhee is 91 years old.
It would be prudent to secure his presenting at Assembly soon.
Does anyone have a personal relationship with him that might influence him to agree?

It would be great if you could get John McPhee to speak at the Assembly but I suspect that his fee would be substantial. Norm Sims and Mark Neuzil convinced him to write the forward to their book titled Canoes: A Natural History in North America. Mark can be contacted at https://www.markneuzil.com/contact if you don't still have his contact information from when he spoke at the Assembly. Good luck,

Benson
