Help ID my Old Town

Hi there,

I have searched high & low and can find nothing on this boat. I know this is mostly a wood canoe forum so I appreciate any help. This Old Town I came across is either fiberglass or polyurethane.

Serial # 196003, which I found to be manufactured between 74-77 (I think).

Is it a kayak? It's ~16 ft long and heavy. It's sit on top, but enclosed.

Thank you!

The build record for the Old Town canoe with serial number 196003 shows a 15.5 foot long Potomac model that weighed 66 pounds. This is a fiberglass covered canoe for two people commonly known as a C2 for white water slalom racing. It was built in June, 1973. The original exterior gelcoat colors were desert white and red. It shipped on February 22nd, 1974 to Whitehall, Penna. A scan of this build record and the 1974 catalog page describing it can be found by following the links behind the thumbnail images attached below.

These scans and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will contribute, join, or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/about-wcha to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/store/membership to join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
