May Paddle (and Pie Auction)

Join fellow WCHA Great Rivers Chapter members on this gentle water paddling experience. Explore the many islands and bays, and/or take part in a paddling instruction session taught by skilled paddlers.



Gathering Time is 8 a.m.

A canoe skills sessions starts at 9:30 a.m.

LUNCH at noon. (Bring your own.)

Bring a pie (voluntary, no pressure) to auction to help raise funds for the Chapter.

Another canoe skills session will be offered at 2 p.m.

Ending time is 5 p.m., but stay as long as you like.

Location -- About 20 miles northwest of Stevens Point at the Eau Pleine Reservoir launch site. From Hwy 51 north of Knowlton, take exit 175 (Hwy 34) west to Hwy C. (Alternately, you can take Hwy 34 north from Hwy 10.) From Hwy 34, go west on Hwy C to the Hwy 0 north. Take Hwy 0 north to Hickory Road. Turn right (east) onto Hickory Road to Dam Road. Turn right (south) onto Dam Road. Go about one mile and turn left (east) onto South Dam Road. Take South Dam Road about three miles to the Eau Pleine Reservior launch.



There is also good fishing so you may want to prepare for that as well.

Only 5 days until Lac Du Bay Event

To clarify for those asking, this is a social paddle, not a river trip. Yes, there will be a pie auction (not a pie throwing contest ! ) if enough pies show up. I travel past this route frequently and I do see Eagles, herons and other birds. Bring Binoculars and Cameras. Also, there is supposed to be a load of Walleyes right by our launch site. There are nice toilet houses. Parking is about 40 feet from the launch. Parking is ample. It's a GREAT place for a nice event.
