Deborah found a delightfully illustrated canoe book at the Dover-Foxcroft library – a child’s book about the young Franklin Delano Roosevelt and the Passquamoddy chief, canoe-builder, and guide Tomah Joseph. It would make a great gift for a pre-teen.

The book features the canoe now hanging in the entrance to the visitor center. The book mentions a birchbark on the porch at Campobello, but the canoe now on the Canpobello porch, also built by Tomah Joseph, is not the one featured in the book.
