I recently bought a 16 ft wood canoe fiberglass hull with a brass nameplate CT Chief 224. I have attached a photo of the nameplate. Anyone have any information on this canoe?

This may not be a manufacturer's name plate and might be an inventory tag from a livery or summer camp fleet. If it was built commercially after 1972 then it should have a hull identification number on the starboard stern. See http://www.usps.org/national/safety/HIN/HIN.pdf for more information about how to interpret these numbers. The page at https://uscgboating.org/content/manufacturers-identification-detail.php?id=2634 indicates that there was a Chief Canoe company in Florida from 1973 to 2005. Let us know if you can ever identify it. Good luck,

    Benson
