9' W.T. Bush model

Canoe Nut
An interesting find after following a trail of folks and conversations.

The pictures attached are of a 9' model canoe built by W.T. Bush of Coldwater, ON.

Reg Bush, the grandson of W.T. Bush had the canoe where we found it under his porch in the last picture with the Muskie in it. The canoe had been displayed in the Bush Marina in the area for some length of time until the Bush family sold the marina a few years ago.

It was estimated to be build about 1910 or so and you will notice all slotted screws.

A great piece of history,

Paul

I mentioned slotted screws but didn't post a picture.

Here is the stem profile showing slotted screws in the outwale.

Also attached a shot of the thwart block and the flush wood battens.

The last picture of the bottom shows a repair required from someone putting a foot in it. Reg mentioned that people would paddle the canoe while standing on the gunnels; a good reason the center thwart had been repaired.
