1929 Old Town dinghy

I have possession of an Old Town wood and canvas dinghy that is in need of repair. The canvas is not properly sealed or secured at the transom. I think I’ll need to source some kind of sealer or bedding material to get the seal between canvas and transom and planks then use brass tacks to secure it, then use a high build primer and paint on the intact but peeling canvas. Is this correct? Any advice is welcome.

Welcome, the canvas may need to be replaced if it is peeling. It is common to use a bedding compound to seal the canvas at that point. Pictures would help.

The boat has been in storage, in the attic of a marina, for 20 years, so the cracked paint could be heat stress? Maybe the same for the broken seal at the transom? I’ll upload a couple photos on the next post
