Could someone post the build records for Old Town 141753 and 141763? I am absolutely positive that it is 141753 and they made a mistake when they typed the number on the bill of sale. It’s a 20’ AA Guide. Thanks!

My guess is that you have the Old Town canoe with serial number 141753. This is an 20 foot long, AA (or top) grade, guide model with Western red cedar planking, open mahogany gunwales, number six canvas, thirty inch ash decks, mahogany thwarts, mahogany seats, half ribs, a keel, outside stems, a floor rack, bilge keels, and bang plates along the full length on all keels. It was built between February and April, 1945. The original exterior paint color was red to match a sample that was provided and a G. S. (Guide's Special) green bottom. It shipped on May 2nd, 1945 to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. A scan of this build record can be found below.

This scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others as you probably know well. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. Your life membership is much appreciated.

It is possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match the canoe. The one with number 141763 is a 17 foo long HW in CS grade so that isn't a good match. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
