Enthusiastic about Wooden Canoes
Can anyone tell me a bit about Chamcook Canoes? Built by David Neeler in the 1990's? I can't find any info on them. These are pics of a 14'er - what is it worth?

More pics - the guy is only asking $650 for it - Includes pair of Shaw and Tenney paddles... Seems like a steal - no?

I found an address and phone number for Chamcook canoes through google -- 37 Glebe Rd, Chamcook NB, E5B 3B7, 506-529-4776, chamcook@nbnet.nb.ca -- likely not current information, but why not call?

In any event, it's a nice looking canoe, and from the photos, seems well built (of course, photos often lie, and it would be good to see the canoe in person, if possible). Shaw & Tenney paddles typically retail either side of $150. If a 14' canoe is what you want, seems like a pretty good deal.

Chamcook

Another Chamcook has surfaced in MA. This one belonged to a friend's father who has passed away. We are contemplating restoring it and it seems to have Prospector-like lines consistent with its New Brunswick heritage. Does anyone know the story with Chamcook Canoes or David Needler? I have not seen the canoe in person yet, but I will try the contact information after seeing the canoe in person.

David built a “Chestnut” inspired canoe for me back in 2000-2003. It is a beauty. Visited his shop a few times. He seems to be out of business these days.

My cousin married Helen Chestnut.
